Quantity Surveyor - Civils

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant or Intermediate Level Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil construction company based in Buckinghamshire. Covering works mainly in the Home Counties, Suffolk and Essex, the ideal candidate would be located in the Hertfordshire/Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire area, to allow easy access to both site works in Essex and access to the Buckinghamshire Office.

They are a family owned and operated company, with offices in Kent, Surrey and Buckinghamshire. 
 
They specialise in construction works for Public Authorities including county and district councils, government departments, statutory authorities and Network Rail. They prefer to engage directly with the employer, however, and are also employed as a subcontractor to large national companies such as; McLaren, Vinci and Kier. 
 
The successful candidate for this role will report to the Managing Surveyor at the Buckinghamshire Office and will be responsible for working closely with site management teams to ensure contract objectives and margins are met. The ideal candidate will have a sound working knowledge of groundworks, civil works & utility services and will be more favourably viewed if some building experience can also be demonstrated. 
 
The role will involve: Preparation of interim and final accounts, Managing day to day commercial and contract activities & notifications, Sub-contract procurement ensuring maximum value for money, Sub-contract valuations and final accounts, Preparation of Compensation Events / Variations, Contractual correspondence, Commercial reporting, Procurement of professional service for design etc.
 
The successful Quantity Surveyor will likely have: A relevant professional Quantity Surveying qualification or proficient management experience within the construction industry, Working knowledge of NEC 3 and JCT Conditions of Contract, Ability to undertake site measures when required, Ability to work clearly and accurately under pressure and tight timescales, Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and organisation skills.#
